A universe, live, on the Affenberg – “Monkey Mountain”! 1st of April till 31st of October

On Monkey Mountain, you’re not just an outsider looking in on a monkey world – you are right there in the midst of it all, with no barriers! For an “up close and personal” first-hand experience surrounded by 145 Japanese macaques!
From April 1st 2013 till 31st of October, we’ll again be open for you! Our 2013 hours: daily from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

During high season (June 15th until September 15th), our guided tours take place every half-hour. In early and late season (April 1st to June 15th and September 15th until October 31st), tours are offered at the bottom of every hour 9:30, 10:30, 11:30.....- 5:30)
As you take the tour with our primate researchers, you will learn a lot about the life of monkeys and their needs. You will get to observe 145 macaques just as they live in the wild, seeing how they fall in love, sometimes fight, raise their own children, as you will some that can swim and even dive. The guided tours take about 45 minutes.

Adventure tour "Outbreak" Our macaques caused a huge fuss in the Carinthian media when they managed to escape back in 1996. But how could it happen? And what tricks did it take to recapture them? This tour includes our various security measures and a demonstration of the so-called “shooting jacket”. Length of this adventure tour: about 1 hr. 10 min. Every Saturday at 1:15 p.m. Max. participation: 25 people/fee 15 Euro per adult, 8 Euro per child. Adventure tour "Research" Our primate researchers accompany participants during this research tour on Monkey Mountain, demonstrating how research is conducted on the Affenberg. How does a behavior researcher work? And what is currently being researched here? Try your own hand at being a macaque researcher! This adventure tours lasts about 1 hr. 10 min.
